I am amazed by the fine detail that can be seen in the most unusual and simple things in nature; for example, Edward Weston’s Pepper, 1930 which captures the beauty of a deformed vegetable. These things are often missed, especially in the ever-expanding man-made world. I wanted to show nature’s beauty in a striking, exaggerated way to catch the viewer’s attention and I used editing techniques to emphasise features. I have also been inspired by the clarity of Ansel Adams’ images and Carli Davidson’s Shakea series of dogs shaking off water.
