He was awarded Bendigo’s RAW Arts prize in 2005 which is a prize given to promising artists below the age of twenty six. Recently Kain was involved in a group exhibition in Bendigo titled ‘Light’. This show focussed on three artists’ interpretations of Light as a concept. He has had multiple entries accepted to the Bendigo works on paper prize and also had an entry in the 2007 James Farrell self-portrait prize. Kain has permanent representation at the Pantechnicon in Daylesford. Kain’s work has permanent residence in the Bendigo council foyer and was recently involved in a group exhibition at Global Gallery in Sydney.

While Kain began as a purely representational figurative artist, he has since spanned off into the study of metaphysical principles in his work. Kain acquired his training in drawing from university, but he is largely a self-taught painter. Adopting the techniques of the old masters to his own ends, Kain uses many subtle layers of glazes.
