Jane Crappsley is a full-time artist based in Melbourne with a background in drawing, printmaking and digital technologies. She graduated from the Canberra School of Art (ANU) with a Bachelor in Visual Arts (Hons) – Print media & Drawing and completed an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia (Interactive) at Victoria University. Her practice combines traditional and digital media through drawing, light installations, interactive media and site-responsive public art.

Crappsley’s work explores systems of communication and the ways we experience and interact with the physical and digital spaces we inhabit day-to-day. Investigating the continual flow of
communication and translation between different data types and interfaces – human, technological and environmental – her work creates windows of opportunity for people to engage with the spaces around us in another way.

Her drawings and prints have been exhibited in a number of national exhibitions, and have won numerous prizes. She has also been commissioned by councils in Victoria and Queensland
to create site-responsive art for public places.
