Contemporary visual artist Alex Pye was born in Sydney, Australia. She completed her Honours of Fine Arts in Painting at the Sydney college of the Arts in 2011.

Pye’s work has been exhibited at art galleries such as Verge Gallery, Mills Gallery, Peloton Gallery, Kudos Gallery and Mori Gallery. Her practice incorporates sculpture, performance, installation and video. Currently, Alex is making works that respond to the idea of displacement and the subsequent trauma or anxiety that this may evoke.

From 2012 Alex has been based in Cumnock, in regional NSW and is a co-director of an artist run studio residency program entitled ‘The dark teatime of the soul’. This is a project which enables artists, writers, film makers, designers and other creatives the opportunity to produce new work, exhibit and exchange ideas in a rural setting.
