As a contemporary jeweller and metalsmith, Meghan O’Rourke aims is to create precious objects for the body that are both playful and ornate.
Meghan’s refined and colourful jewellery explores the use of patterns derived from the delicate structures found in nature primarily plants and coral. More recently her inspiration has come from the ephemeral nature of shadows and reflections in the natural landscape.
Her work often combines the fascinating optical effects and vivid colour palate of anodised titanium and aluminium with more traditional materials. Additionally the hand dying and subtle texturing techniques that she has developed give the process a sense of spontaneity, ensuring that no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
Meghan is an associate designer within the prominent JamFactory Metal Design Studio and has gained recognition in various fine art awards and international residencies.
