I am an artist working within single channel video, performance and installation. Through the use of televisual performance, persona and performativity, I explore contemporary cultural iconography and the idealised signs that exist within it. I am particularly fascinated by the symbolism of popular clichés, and within my work pastiche isolated and fragmented cultural conventions, and shape them into revealing stories or situations.

I am focussed on the mechanics of performance and representation. As performer for video, I am interested in the act of embodiment of character through performance, and the exchange that takes place between viewer and performer. Further to this, I am focused on processes of embodiment of the gallery space, and how movement, vision and audio can create an intersubjective feedback between viewer and artwork. My work is playful and humorous, but it is also an ongoing examination of masquerade and mimicry in video-based practice.

I have received support and fellowships from numerous organizations such as NARS Foundation, NYC, Druskininkai Artists’ Residence, Lithuania, Sumu Artist in Residence program, Turku, Finland, The Camargo Foundation, Cassis, France, The Cité des Internationales, Paris, The Australia Council, The Ian Potter Cultural Trust and the Dame Joan Sutherland Fund, American Australian Association, NYC.

I have exhibited work in galleries such as A.R.A.C., Paris, Gallery Titanik, Turku, Finland, Harold Golen Gallery, Miami, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne, Australia, Plimsol Gallery, Tasmania, Australia, Metro Arts, Brisbane, Australia, Kings Artist Run, Melbourne, and West Space, Melbourne. My films have screened in numerous festivals internationally. I have done my live video performances around Europe, and in both Miami and Melbourne. I completed my Masters degree at RMIT University in 2003, and am currently a PhD candidate at Monash University.
