Belinda Wiltshire was born in Geelong and relocated to Melbourne in 1999 to study Clothing Industry and Costume Design. Although visual arts had always played a leading role, it wasn’t until 2004 that Wiltshire gained a substantial foothold in her artistic practice as a finalist in the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship. From this point on Wiltshire began moving from strength to strength not only as a visual artist but in related fields.
As Founder and Director of The Pea Green Boat Artist Studio in Brunswick, and Co-Curator of the 2010 Brunswick Show Wiltshire has carved herself a tidy niche in which to develop and sustain her aspirations as a full time artist.
Wiltshire, as a figurative painter, has her heart set deep in the Nabi movement of the 1890’s.
She teams this with a passion for the rawness of the new and a wicked sense of wit to result in a surprisingly poetic combination of detail and disorder.
