rAndom International: Rain Room image

Year: 2011

Rain Room is a hundred square metre field of falling water through which it is possible to walk. The flow of rain is suspended when the interactive installation detects the presence of bodies. Visitors are able to immerse themselves in a field of rain without getting wet.

Media: Injection moulded tiles, solenoid valves, pressure regulators, 3D tracking cameras, custom software and steel beams.

Rain Room first debuted at the Barbican Centre in London, October 2012.
